Dogs in top form will not attract fleas. Feeding a balanced, raw diet is a primary method to improve your companion's resistance to fleas and other parasites. Sometimes, we want even more help, without introducing poisons. Enter the great cedar tree.

Pure cedar oil may be applied to your canine companion's skin or coat. With a few drops of cedar oil in your mop bucket, you can create a repellent layer on your flooring that deters fleas from entering or remaining in your home. Cedar chips and cedar wood pieces, commonly sold to keep closets and drawers moth-free, can be used in carpeted areas. As with any new substance you introduce, consider possible allergies and watch for such signs to be sure. The most common cedar oils used in the US have been studied and generally do not produce allergic reactions, but every organism has a different sensitivity.
